Many believers pray fervently for financial breakthrough yet remain trapped in recurring financial struggles they cannot explain. Over time, I have learned that some financial battles are not merely economic but deeply spiritual. Through personal experience and shared testimonies, I discovered that repeated dreams of robbery often point to hidden covenants that quietly drain finances despite hard work, good income, and faithful prayer.
Recurring Dreams of Robbery and What Often Follows
Several people have shared with me how they repeatedly dream of someone snatching their bags or wallets. In these dreams, they either do not chase the thief at all or they chase them and wake up before catching them. What usually follows after this kind of dream is a series of financial challenges.
When people aggressively pray and ask God to deliver them from these attacks, some form of deliverance often happens. However, it is usually not long before the robber appears again in another dream. Sometimes it is not a robber but a spirit of the dead giving or asking for money. In some cases, the spirit also asks the dreamer to perform certain actions.
The Bible tells us that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Spiritual robbery often begins subtly, long before it becomes visible in real life.
Why This Pattern Is Hard to Recognize
This pattern is difficult to identify because it does not stop money from coming in. Instead, something always arises to divert the finances. This diversion prevents saving or accomplishing planned goals.
It may be illness, sudden emergencies, or unexpected repairs. Something always breaks and needs urgent attention. These issues often occur precisely when there is extra money available. As long as there is surplus, something arises to consume it.
The Bible describes this principle clearly when it says, “You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes” (Haggai 1:6).
Why General Financial Prayers Often Fail
From my personal experience and from the testimonies of others, I learned that general prayers for financial breakthrough often address only the symptoms. In situations like this, the root problem is much deeper.
In my own case, God was faithful to reveal the pattern. Even with my dream job and a very good salary, I could not save anything. Every time my salary was paid, it cleared my credit card and other obligations. I would start each month with a zero balance and depend entirely on credit cards.
I listened to financial advisors and even purchased an Excel budgeting template to track my spending. While doing this, my fridge and washing machine broke. The following month, a mechanic advised me to replace all my car tires which I had recently purchased, advice I could not ignore.
Within two months, I realized that even the best financial tools could not help me. I knew that even if my income doubled, nothing would change. I watched people earning half of my salary achieve goals I could only dream of.
The Dream That Opened My Eyes
During this period of frustration, I dreamed that someone stole my wallet and emptied it. The dream felt very real. In real life, I had €20 in my wallet. In the dream, I checked for that €20 and found that it had been taken. When I woke up, the first thing I did was check my wallet. The money was still there, but I chose to give it to a beggar on the street.
In the dream, I chased the thief, but he disappeared into a crowd. I prayed briefly about it and then moved on with my life.
About three months later, after paying off significant debts and almost forgetting about the dream, I planned to enrol in a short professional course. Around that time, I had another dream in which I was in a crowd and someone picked money from my pocket. Because there were so many people, I could not identify the thief. I tried aggressively questioning those around me, and then I woke up.
Shortly afterward, someone very dear to me developed serious breathing problems. I was asked to buy an oxygen cylinder and arrange an appointment with a heart specialist because no one else was able to help and it was a matter of life and death. I paid almost the full amount and this doubled my debt
Recognizing a Deeper Spiritual Agenda
At this point, I clearly understood that this was a carefully laid demonic plan to keep me broke, even after God had delivered me from many other struggles.
In His mercy, God revealed more through another dream. I was having a conversation with my stepsister at my father’s shop from our childhood. In the dream, I repeatedly told her that all our wealth was in the toilet of the shop.
That shop no longer exists and has been gone for more than twenty years. When I woke up, I immediately understood that covenants had been made to grow that business. These covenants affected all the children.
The Bible warns that covenants can affect generations, stating that the sins of the fathers can visit the children (Exodus 20:5). It also teaches that blessings and curses can operate through legal spiritual grounds.
Breaking the Covenant Changed Everything
A sincere prayer of repentance and the denouncing of those covenants changed everything. That was the last time I was ever robbed in my dreams.
From this experience, one key lesson stands out. Whenever you are robbed in your dreams, a covenant is speaking. It is a covenant that has legal ground to claim your finances.
It does not matter how many deliverance sessions you have attended. Lasting freedom comes when God reveals the root cause. Scripture reminds us that the truth sets us free (John 8:32).
Ask God to help you identify the source, lead you in repentance, and restore what has been stolen. As Joel 2:25 promises, God is able to restore the years that were eaten away.
Final Reflection
Financial struggles are not always about poor planning or lack of effort. Sometimes, they are spiritual battles rooted in forgotten covenants. When God reveals the root, and repentance follows, true and lasting freedom begins. If this message resonates with you, seek God intentionally. He is faithful to reveal what needs to be addressed and powerful enough to restore all that was lost.
