Breaking the Chains: Recognizing the Enemy’s Subtle Tactics
In this chapter of my deliverance journey, I share how unexpected breakthroughs came with hidden battles. From job struggles to financial setbacks, God revealed how the enemy hides within everyday situations and how spiritual discernment brought me clarity and growth.
Introduction
Again, deliverance is both a spiritual battle and a revelation. By this stage of my journey, I had endured countless spiritual attacks, sleepless nights, and moments of despair. What I didn’t realize was that these struggles were preparing me for a deeper level of spiritual awareness. I was about to encounter the power of divine deliverance in ways I had never imagined, but I would also face new forces that tested my faith more than ever before.
A Call from the Unexpected
During this period, I had completely given up on job searching. One day, out of nowhere, I received a call from a company I had long forgotten about. What made this moment remarkable was that my phone rarely rang perhaps once in months, and usually from scammers.
When this company reached out, I wasn’t excited. I honestly believed it would be a waste of time. They kept reminding me to send an updated CV until, finally, I sent it just for the sake of it. To my surprise, they invited me for an interview.
The challenge was that I didn’t even have money for transport to the interview location, let alone enough to afford a haircut. I looked shabby and worn out. I used a post-paid train ticket and walked nearly 7 kilometres through the cold winter to reach an industrial area where the company was located.
It had been almost eight years since I last worked, having left my home country, and this was the first interview I had been invited to in all that time. I arrived just 15 minutes before the interview, exhausted and freezing.
A Test of Humility and Endurance
The interview lasted about 30 minutes. I remember walking out of the building and seeing several of the company’s employees driving past me as I trudged back toward the station. I didn’t care; I was certain they would never call me back.
I told myself it was the enemy’s plan to shame and frustrate me further. I returned home with a debt on my travel card and anger in my heart, completely forgetting about the job. I continued praying and immersing myself in deliverance teachings.
Then, a month later, I received a call asking if I could start work the following month. Things began to move quickly. Interestingly, though the company had interviewed me, I was hired through a recruiting agency — meaning I worked for the company but was officially under the agency’s management.
A Breakthrough That Tested My Faith
For me, this was a huge breakthrough. I finally had a white-collar job, working in an office with skilled professionals, signing a contract that included transport and holiday benefits. I began the job full of excitement and gratitude.
However, after 6 months, I began to notice challenges. I was paid only for the days I worked, submitting a timesheet every week to get paid on Tuesdays. Despite doing the same work and sometimes more than my colleagues, I earned less than half their salaries because I was classified as a contractor.
My access to the office building was also restricted certain areas, and though my official manager was in the UK, she was often too busy to respond. She told me to contact the receptionist for urgent matters, but eventually, even that communication stopped.
When problems arose like missing approvals or delayed payments, I had to go through the agency, which managed many employees and rarely responded quickly. As a result, my pay was sometimes delayed.
Hidden Struggles Behind the Breakthrough
To some, these may sound like ordinary workplace frustrations, but to me, I saw the fingerprints of the enemy everywhere. To some extent, this job brought financial stability but also deep frustration and emotional strain.
While I was unemployed, a social worker had helped me apply for rent allowance. The government reimbursed part of my rent each month. But months after working, I received a letter from the tax office demanding repayment for ten months of benefits.
Around the same time, I learned I had accidentally stayed on a collective health insurance plan even after starting my new job. That led to another letter from the government demanding a refund for overpayments for 10months.
In short, the little income I earned started going straight into utilities and debts. Then, my work schedule was suddenly reduced from five days to three, making it impossible to meet my expenses.
Understanding the Enemy’s Subtle Tactics
You may be wondering why I’m sharing these details. It’s because I want to show how the enemy operates subtly — often blending his attacks with what looks like normal life struggles.
It’s easy to dismiss these patterns and blame ourselves or our decision-making, but in truth, the devil works strategically. He attacks progress, steals joy from blessings, and manipulates circumstances to breed frustration and doubt.
As I continued in prayer and fasting, the Holy Spirit began to reveal the spiritual principles behind these experiences and how to stand firm against the enemy’s hidden tactics.
In conclusion
Deliverance is not just about casting out spirits; it’s about discernment, recognizing how the enemy tries to twist ordinary events into weapons of discouragement. God was training me to see through these patterns so I could fight with wisdom, not fear.
